Comparison
Single 60s vs Match: a big general site or one built for your age?
Match welcomes everyone from 18 upwards. Single 60s was made for people over 60. That one difference shapes everything else.
In brief
Match is a general dating site for all adults, owned by Match Group, with a very large membership, singles events in a few big cities and full apps. Single 60s is a smaller site for friendship and dating after 60, running since 2010, on which a free account already includes some messaging. Choose Match for sheer numbers; choose Single 60s if you would rather not wade through people half your age to find someone suitable.

The age question
Match was founded in San Francisco in 1993 and is one of the most familiar names in online dating; in Ofcom's May 2025 figures it was among the ten most visited dating services in the UK. It is open to every adult, so the over 60s are a small slice of a very large crowd. You can narrow your searches by age, and Match offers to show your profile to members of its over-50s service too.
Single 60s starts from the other end. Everything about it, from the name to the articles, assumes you are over 60. Most of our UK men are 65 or older, and our regional pages show the real balance of men and women over 55 in each part of the country, so you know what to expect before you join.
Paying, and what you get first
Match's free membership lets you register and browse, and full messaging needs one of its paid tiers. Single 60s puts a small daily allowance of messages into the free account and lets free members answer any VIP who writes to them. VIP then removes the limit, from £18.49 for a week; the prices page lists every plan, and which ones renew.
Getting out and meeting people
If you like the idea of an organised singles evening, Match runs themed events, including in London, Edinburgh and Manchester. Single 60s leaves meeting up to its members. Our guide to where singles over 60 meet lists other ways to meet people in person, from walking groups to u3a courses.
Safety and scams
Match says it moderates every profile picture and description. Single 60s screens photos, video and text as they are uploaded, offers free ID and video checks with a badge, and warns you when someone tries to move a conversation off the site. Whichever you use, never send money to someone you have not met. Our safety advice has the full list of habits.
Our view
There is no reason not to try both. If you are already on Match and finding the age mix hard going, a site where everyone knows what "over 60" means can feel like a relief. See also Single 60s vs OurTime, which is Match Group's own over-50s site.
