An even match, and an older one
The South East is one of the busiest regions on Single 60s, and its older members are the most evenly balanced of any region. Among members over 55, women make up just over half. Two thirds of that group are 65 or older, and among the women over 55, nearly two thirds are 65 or more, the highest share in the country.
For men in their sixties and seventies this is the friendliest region on the site: about a third of all the women here are over 55, against one in eight in London. For women, nearly nine in ten men in the South East are over 55, so the men you see will mostly be of your generation.

From the coast to the Thames Valley
The South East is a ring of counties round London, and members join from all of it. Southampton is the most common town on profiles here, followed by Slough, Reading and Brighton, and there are members in Milton Keynes and across Kent, Surrey, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight too.
Because the counties are well joined by the M3, M4, M20, M23 and M40, and by fast trains into London, it is often easier to meet someone two counties away than to cross a single county from east to west. Think about journey time rather than miles when you set your distance.

In Brighton, the seafront and the Royal Pavilion Gardens are always busy enough to feel safe and relaxed. Reading has the Forbury Gardens and the Thames path at Caversham. In Southampton, Mayflower Park on the waterfront and the medieval town walls make an easy walk. Winchester Cathedral and its close, the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford (free to enter), Windsor Great Park, Willen Lake in Milton Keynes, and the harbour at Whitstable are all good choices, with somewhere to sit and talk close at hand.
