The best dating sites for over 60s in the UK: an honest guide
Yes, we run one of them. We have tried to be fair to the rest, and to say plainly who each one suits.
The best dating site for you over 60 depends on what you want. For the largest choice, Match and Plenty of Fish are the biggest general names. For a site limited to older singles, OurTime (over 50s) and Single 60s (over 60s) are the main UK options. For questionnaire matching, eharmony. Two once-popular names, SilverSingles UK and Lumen, are no longer available.
What to know first
- Age-specific sites save you sifting through people half your age.
- What a free account allows varies far more than the prices do.
- Look for photo moderation and ID or video checks.
- Trying two sites for a few weeks is normal and sensible.
The main options at a glance
| Site | Best for | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Single 60s | Over 60s who want friendship or romance and a usable free account | Smaller site; free members can message daily; free ID check |
| OurTime | Over 50s who want a big age-specific site and events | Run by Match Group; apps, local activities, video chat |
| Match | People who want the largest choice | All ages; singles events in big cities; messaging is paid |
| eharmony | People who like a detailed questionnaire | Compatibility Quiz; full photos and profile need a paid plan |
| Plenty of Fish | People who want free messaging and do not mind a young crowd | All ages; selfie verification |
| 60s Love | Over 60s who like personality tests | Run from Austria; its terms say it uses "animators" you cannot meet |
| Saga Dating | Readers who trust the Saga name | Run for Saga by a third-party dating company |
Sites made for older singles
Single 60s has been a friendship and dating site for the over 60s since at least 2010. It is smaller than the big names, and honest about that, but everyone who arrives through it knows what "over 60" means. A free account lets you send a few messages a day and reply to paying members, which is unusual. See what it includes.
OurTime is Match Group's site for the over 50s, launched in the UK in June 2017. It has iPhone and Android apps, local activities for members, and video chat, and it was the ninth most visited dating service in the UK in Ofcom's figures for May 2025. Our Single 60s vs OurTime comparison goes into detail.
60s Love targets the over 60s with a survey and personality test. It is run by Dating Lions GmbH in Innsbruck, Austria, and its terms of service state that it uses "animators", staff who chat with members and cannot be met in real life. Read Single 60s vs 60s Love.
Saga Dating still exists, linked from Saga's own website, and is run on Saga's behalf by a separate dating company. We could not check its features in enough detail to say more.
The big general sites
Match, founded in 1993, is open to all adults and is one of the most visited dating services in the UK. It runs themed singles events, including in London, Edinburgh and Manchester. Free members can register and browse; messaging is paid. See Single 60s vs Match.
eharmony began in the United States in 2000 and arrived in the UK in 2008. You take a Compatibility Quiz and it suggests matches. Free members can view profiles and send likes and first messages; seeing all photos needs a paid plan. See Single 60s vs eharmony.
Plenty of Fish, owned by Match Group, lets free members create a profile, browse and send messages, and offers selfie verification. It is aimed at all ages, so expect a young crowd.
Names you may remember that have gone
SilverSingles was a well-known over-50s site in the UK. Its UK website no longer loads, and its former owner, Spark Networks, entered insolvency proceedings in Germany in January 2026. A US SilverSingles site now runs under a different company. Lumen, an app for the over 50s, closed in 2020 when its owner folded it into Bumble.
How to choose
- Decide what you want: friendship, a relationship, or simply company. Pick a site that treats that as normal.
- Check the free account before you spend an evening on a profile. Our guide to free dating sites for over 60s explains the differences.
- Look for safety checks: photo moderation, ID or video verification, and easy blocking.
- Read how renewals work before paying. On Single 60s the yearly plans do not renew; shorter ones do until cancelled.
Every site on this list was checked against its own website, app store listing or official figures in October 2026. If you are wondering whether Single 60s itself is genuine, read Is Single 60s legit?, and see all our comparisons.
